Message From the Director

Director Baraton CollegeFirst let me take this early opportunity to welcome you to Baraton College. Our college is a tertiary institution which offers several programmes ranging from certificate level to Diploma level. Baraton College is currently in the process of becoming a university through the proposed Great Rift University. This proposed expansion of our college has been necessitated by the current high demand for quality education in Kenya.

As an institution we believe that good and proper education plays a great role in shaping our future and professional career. It helps us to develop personality and earn recognition and respect in the family and society. We can say that education is socially and personally an essential part of the human life. We cannot ignore the importance of education in our lives at any cost. Social issues like inequality, gender discrimination, religious differences and so many problems are there because of the lack of education in our lives. Proper education helps us to maintain the personal and social standards in daily life.

However, even in such a modern, technological and competitive world, there is still the issue of lack of education among poor people of the society which needs to be solved as soon as possible. It is also worth noting that with the introduction of free primary education and subsidized secondary education in Kenya more students from poor families have been able to access primary and secondary education resulting in many high school graduates. College and University education in Kenya is not affordable to many of these high school graduates especially if they don’t gain direct entry to one of the Kenyan public universities.

As a tertiary institution, Baraton’s main mission is to bridge the gap by offering effective, efficient, affordable and quality education that meets today’s needs in the community. It’s because of this mission that makes Baraton unique and attractive to many students from all parts of our country. Baraton has built a great name as a tertiary learning institution of choice in the Rift valley and Western parts of Kenya. It is currently the only institution in the region that has been approved by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) to offer programmes in Animal Health and Production.

Education is not just about passing exams and getting a good job, it is also about transforming the student’s life to become a reliable and dependable leader and role model in the community. That is what Baraton College is about, TRANSFORMING LIVES one at a time.

Once again, we are proud to welcome you to be part of our family at Baraton College.

God bless

Mr. Bethwel Kimutai
Director
